Introduction:

In order to facilitate more efficient communications with their class participants, OLLI Instructors are granted access to electronic class rosters via ACEWeb. Instructors will be able to access the following features through ACEWeb:

  • Sort Rosters by name and\or email addresses
  • Download Class Rosters to Excel Files
  • Print Rosters, Sign-In Sheets, and Attendance Sheets

Preparing & Researching

Explore resources to prepare for your class.

Plan For Your Class

  1. Choose a subject you are passionate about!
  2. Draft a rough outline of material the class will explore
  3. Research your subject, make notes, and decide on your presentation style
  4. Draft a syllabus for your class
  5. Decide on a term to offer your class and then submit your proposal

*Note: It can be helpful to remember what you really liked about classes you have taken in the past. What did the instructor do that kept the class engaged, that encouraged discussion and community? How did the instructor handle conflict? You may even consider talking with instructors you admire to gain their perspective on what makes their classes so enjoyable.

Where Can I Find Extra Material for my class?

The world of resources is infinite. Note that a few popular sources are suggested below, but instructors may use any resources they find helpful. Please also note to follow copyright guidelines and OLLI at UNLV standing rules, especially concerning videos.

  • UNLV Library
    • OLLI members may access the Lied Library with their Rebel Cards.
  • Youtube.com
    • Find video documentaries, film clips, interviews, music, tutorials and more!
    • Curious how to share the videos you find with others and copy them to your syllabus or emails? This video tutorial will likely answer many of your questions
  • Google Arts and Culture
    • Discover supplemental material for a variety of subjects, including music, art, culture, history, geography, science, technology, and more.
  • Las Vegas Clark County Library District
    • Access public library resources for additional materials and information with a local library card.
