A Message From The Steering Council Chair and OLLI Director

On behalf of the Steering Council and the Administrative Team of OLLI at UNLV, we are looking forward to welcoming you to our Spring 2022 semester. We will be offering a full slate of both in-person and virtual classes this semester. Many courses will be familiar and popular, and a number will be new, designed to pique your interest. For those of you who are fully vaccinated and miss the camaraderie OLLI has offered in the past, we want to welcome you back to the Paradise campus. The coffee room will be in full operation, as will the computer lab and the library. For our unvaccinated members, you can still participate from home through our virtual “Zoom” classes.

Just like the old “I want you” Uncle Sam poster, we want you and need you. Our post-pandemic membership has fallen from what it was 2 years ago. Please read the class offerings in this catalog, find something that interests you, and sign up. If you are new to the area and interested in lifelong learning, check out our offerings, or call the OLLI office and speak to one of our volunteers for more information or help in signing up. OLLI is a wonderful opportunity for seniors and retirees to stay active, make new friends, and become part of a true lifelong learning community.

We are always on the lookout for new classes and new volunteer instructors, and yes, this pitch is aimed directly at you. If you have a passion or an expertise you’d like to share in the classroom or online, please reach out to us. And, if you are concerned about how to create or present a class, OLLI can offer all the assistance you may need, so don’t be afraid to jump in.

Although OLLI at UNLV has felt different this past year, we are tremendously grateful to the university, our staff, and especially to all of you who have stayed with us or are returning to us now to continue along our path of lifelong learning.
